This Professional Development Workshop (PDW) will focus on serendipity, luck, and chance in the management and strategy context. The first part of the PDW is a facilitated panel discussion with leading academics studying serendipity, luck, and chance from different methodological and theoretical perspectives (in person and virtual). The focus of the panel discussion is to highlight current research and ideas for interesting further research possibilities, as well as how to navigate the related review process. We will end this first part with reflections by an eminent strategy scholar (Henry Mintzberg). Part 1 is open to all participants. In the second part of this PDW, participants will attend a pre-selected roundtable facilitated by an experienced scholar in the field. Participants who wish to participate in the individualized feedback session will need to submit a proposal (2 pages). This part will only be in person. We will only be able to accept a small group of participants for part 2/the round table discussions, as such we encourage early submission.
