2024 CARMA Summer Short Course Plus Program (In-Person)
Are you a current AOM Student and Academic member who wants to advance your knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods? Registration is now open for our 2024 CARMA Summer Short Course Plus Program! You also qualify for a 50% discount on registration fees available through our special 2024 AOM-CARMA Affiliate Membership Program.
Short Courses will be offered IN-PERSON in two sessions hosted at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Session I will run from June 10-12; Session II is June 13-15. Each session contains 10 courses to choose from and features introductory and advanced topics on quantitative and qualitative methods (see listing below). Courses are designed with a balanced mix of lectures and hands-on experience. Our 2024 program also includes Research Development Workshops, networking sessions with our instructors, and mini-tutorials. As in the past, we have low cost on-campus housing for doctoral students (private room, private bath).
Our instructors are "The Best In Our Business" and are recognized within the organizational studies and management areas as leading methodological scholars. Our instructors include experts who are current or former Editors/Associate Editors for ORM, AMJ, JAP, and OBHDP. They also include several AOM-RMD Distinguished Career and Early Career award winners.
CARMA's 2024 Short Course Plus Program adds additional opportunities for those taking courses to advance their knowledge and skills, while networking with instructors and fellow participants. New sessions provided with Short Course registration include:
- Research Development Workshops:
- Scheduled for the afternoon of Wednesday, June 12, and combined for both sessions.
- Topics include:
- Design and Analysis
- Interpreting and Reporting Results
- Participant slots are limited and will be allocated based on the date of Short Course registration.
- Requires a 5-page proposal due by May 13.
- Feedback is provided by in-person and virtual discussants.
- Participant groups will be divided into faculty and students.
- Getting to Know The Best In Our Business:
- Group Q&A with Short Course Instructors session covering your questions on research, publishing, and careers.
- Networking reception and one-on-one Q&A sessions.
- Lunch and Learn Mini-Tutorials:
- One lunch during each Short Course Session will include a mini tutorial (30 mins).
- Tentative topics include:
- How to Maximize Effort with Your Survey Respondents
To register,
- From the AOM.org website, click on your user account from the profile icon in the upper right corner.
- Click the CARMA logo on the left side of the screen.
- When prompted click the "Access CARMA" button.
- This button will take you to CARMA's Affiliate Program Access page which contains an overview of your 2024 Affiliate Member benefits.
- Click the CARMA User Area
· Select the "Register/Purchase" tab
· Select the "Purchase Short Course" link.
· Select the short course that you want to attend and proceed to checkout.
