Post-Doctoral Researcher Opportunity in Finland: Organizational Justice Enactment
We are offering an exciting post-doctoral opportunity for a scholar nearing the completion of their doctoral studies or someone who has recently completed their doctoral studies on the topic of organizational justice or a closely related theme. You will work as part of a team on a project funded by the Research Council of Finland. The project funding is secured for three years, and includes an exciting mobility plan with travel budgets for international conferences and study visits abroad.
About the Project: Despite the importance of leaders in shaping the work environment through organizational justice, there is limited research on how leaders perceive and enact justice. Justice enactment, which involves adhering to fairness rules, profoundly affects both employees and leaders and is intertwined with questions of social justice. Justice enactment is complex, involving reconciling multiple interests and moral dilemmas. Managers often face "justice conundrums," where conflicting values and organizational demands complicate decision-making. Understanding how leaders navigate these conundrums is essential for responsible leadership and improving working environments, ultimately contributing to social justice. This research project aims to enhance the understanding of how managers address justice conundrums by examining: 1) how managers interpret and cope with justice conundrums; 2) how organizational context, especially its DEI and sustainability policies and practices, influences managers' sense-making of justice conundrums; and 3) how justice enactment and justice conundrums influence managers' leadership identity, leadership trajectory, and leadership actions. Ultimately, this research seeks to expand knowledge on how managers enact justice, shaping the work environment's fairness.
As a member of the project team, we expect the candidate to conduct high-quality research, with the project aiming to publish in the best international journals in the field of organizational behavior. Methodologically, the project involves both qualitative and quantitative studies as well as literature reviews. Strong knowledge of either qualitative or quantitative methods is needed.
The position is associated with a low teaching load. In addition, the position includes supervising master's theses.
