This PDW leverages insights from organizational behavior to explore how to manage academic collaborations effectively. The session aims to (1) raise attendees' awareness of common challenges and dynamics in research teams, and (2) provide actionable strategies to enhance success and well-being in academic collaborations. The PDW begins with a brief presentation introducing a "vocabulary" of how to think about academic collaborations. A subsequent panel discussion will address common collaboration challenges such as managing diversity in expertise and hierarchy, building productive and meaningful relationships, leading and contributing within research teams, and navigating difficult conversations with co-authors. The panelists will draw on their research and personal experiences to provide practical insights on tackling these challenges. The session will then transition to roundtable discussions, allowing participants to share experiences and workshop strategies tailored to their individual questions and needs. The PDW concludes with a summative discussion of key takeaways to support attendees in fostering successful academic collaborations.
