Reimagining Work: A People and Organizations Hackathon
Sunday, August 2, 2026, 12:15PM-3:15PM ET at Sheraton Liberty Ballroom B
Dear colleagues,
We would like to invite you to Reimagining Work: A People and Organizations Hackathon, a PDW at AOM 2026.
This hackathon-style PDW is designed to catalyze new research on how work is being reshaped. The session uses a flipped format: four panelists each shares a research "seed", for example, a question in search of an empirical strategy, a method looking for management applications, or a novel dataset with underexplored potential. Participants then join a panelist in small groups to brainstorm, match questions to data and methods, and sketch concrete next steps to turn the seed into a viable project.
Panelists and Research Seeds
- Tristan Botelho, Yale School of Management: How do AI-assisted human capital evaluations reshape opportunity?
- Seth Carnahan, Olin Business School: How does AI reshape organizational training systems by eliminating junior work?
- Maria Roche, Harvard Business School: How long must in-person collaboration last to produce durable organizational effects?
- Melissa Valentine, Stanford University: Org charts were developed for human decision-making; how will they evolve for AI?
