    Please excuse the cross postings.  We have an immediate need to fill a visiting professor position in the Department of Management at VCU, to start on or around August 16, 2018.  This is a one year position.  Details are below.

    Visiting Professor of Management

     

    The Department of Management in the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University invites applicants for a one year, full-time Visiting Professor (non-tenure track) to begin August 16, 2018.

     

    Position and Qualifications.  Applicants should have teaching interests in the areas of general management, organizational behavior, strategy, entrepreneurship, leadership, human resource management, or related areas.  The teaching requirements will be three large sections (approximately 200 students) of a Principles of Management course in the Fall and in the Spring semesters.  There are no additional research or service expectations for this position, although candidates are welcome and encouraged to engage in the academic life of the School of Business, which may include attending research talks and exploring shared research interests with department faculty.  Full curriculum materials (syllabi, lecture materials, exams) for the course will be available and some teaching assistant support will be provided.

     

    Candidates must have a master's degree in a relevant discipline; a PhD is preferred.  Prior teaching experience is required.  Experience teaching large sections is desirable, but not required. 

     

    The Department offers an undergraduate major in Management with concentrations in business administration, entrepreneurship, and international business; an undergraduate major in Human Resource Management; and a Ph.D. in Business with a concentration in Management (OBHR).  Management and Entrepreneurship faculty teach in the undergraduate, MBA, Executive MBA, and Ph.D. programs.  The Department has 15 full-time faculty who are active researchers and engaged teachers.  Management faculty have publications in leading journals including the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management, Strategic Management Journal, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and Organizational Research Methods.  Virginia Commonwealth University enrolls over 31,000 students, with 3,300 enrolled in the School of Business.  The city of Richmond consistently ranks among "Best Places to Live and Work in America" in several national publications.
