    Dear OB Colleagues,

I'm putting together a workshop--really, a mini-conference--in mid-July, on the intersection of organizational science (defined broadly, certainly to include OBHR!) and cybersecurity, funded by the National Science Foundation.

I request your help to invite a small number of graduate students to this event. Attendance is free, plus we have travel/hotel funding (up to $700) available for graduate students traveling from outside the metropolitan Washington, D.C., area.

REQUEST: If you know of graduate students in your department or elsewhere who have experience doing organizational/social/behavioral science oriented cybersecurity research, could you please forward the email below to them?

    Sincerely,

    Reeshad Dalal

    ==============================

GRADUATE STUDENT INVITATION TO AN ORGANIZATIONAL SCIENCE AND CYBERSECURITY WORKSHOP

Join us on July 14 (Saturday) and 15 (Sunday), 2018, in Fairfax, Virginia-a suburb of Washington, D.C.-for a free workshop designed to advance knowledge and create collaborations among professors, professionals, and graduate students in two disciplines: Organizational Science (defined broadly, certainly to include OBHR) and Cybersecurity!

At the end of this email, there is a link to a survey you can fill out if you'd like to apply to attend.

    Details:

    • Cozy, invitation-only workshop (mini-conference), funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation
    • Attendance is free: there are no registration costs
    • Most meals will be provided
    • Moreover, we will cover up to $700 of travel and lodging costs for out-of-town graduate student attendees (to avail, attendees must be from outside the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, and must travel at least 25 miles to reach the workshop)
    • Location: George Mason University campus in Fairfax, Virginia (a suburb of Washington, D.C.)
    • Duration: From Saturday, July 14, at around 1 PM, until Sunday, July 15, at around 5:30 PM. Attendees will ideally attend for the entire workshop in order to benefit from the presentations, learning, and networking, as well as to initiate concrete collaborations.

The intent of hosting this workshop is twofold: Learning from each other's fields and networking across the two disciplines.

The workshop will include several research presentations at the intersection of organizational science and cybersecurity. Semi-structured networking activities will also be included. In addition, we will hold panel discussions on topics such as:

    • Obtaining interdisciplinary contacts, funding, and data
    • Defining and quantifying the impact of interdisciplinary research collaborations
    • Publishing in a variety of outlets (e.g., peer-reviewed journal articles, white papers, book chapters, blogs, newspaper op-eds) aimed at various audiences (e.g., researchers, practitioners, and policy-makers in organizational science and cybersecurity)

We'll have representation at the workshop from:

    • NSF (the National Science Foundation)
    • APS (the Association for Psychological Science)
    • SIOP (the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology)
    • SHRM (the Society for Human Resource Management)
    • DHS (the U.S. Department of Homeland Security)
    • US-CERT (the official U.S. government Computer Emergency Readiness Team)
    • MITRE
    • RAND
    • HumRRO (the Human Resources Research Organization)
    • The Lab @ DC
    • Professors from several university departments

Are you a graduate student who has conducted social/behavioral/organizational focused cybersecurity research, or who intends to do so in the future? If so, this workshop may be perfect for you. We particularly encourage applications from members of underrepresented groups.

Interested graduate students should fill out a brief application survey at:
