Psychology Assistant Professor Position (full-time, 9-month tenure-earning appointment)

The University of West Florida (UWF) Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2018. Specifically, we are interested in candidates with primary expertise in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. A background in Health Psychology and/or ability to teach research methods or statistics would be considered advantageous for the position. An applicant should have completed a doctorate in psychology from a regionally accredited university by the beginning of the appointment.

Successful candidates will demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching, research, and service. The person in this position will have a 3:3 teaching assignment of undergraduate and graduate (MA) courses in the defined area of specialization, establish an active program of research involving undergraduate and graduate students, supervise graduate capstone experiences (theses and internships), and engage in university/community service. Courses may include, but are not limited to Industrial Psychology, Personnel Selection, and Legal Issues in I/O Psychology.

Minimum qualifications: Doctoral degree in the field of specialization from an accredited institution, with demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, academic research, and service.

The UWF Psychology Department, in the new UWF College of Health, has over 400 undergraduate majors and approximately 60 graduate students in our master's programs (Counseling, Applied Experimental, Industrial/Organizational). Our program occupies a modern facility with excellent research space and provides opportunities for conducting a variety of diverse, collaborative, and specialized research. The Department also is the home for the Center for Applied Psychology. For additional information on the department and university, please refer to our website (http://uwf.edu/coh/departments/psychology/).

The university is located on a 1600-acre campus that is designated as a nature preserve and has a diverse student population of approximately 14,000 that includes underrepresented and international students. As Pensacola is a regional center for health care and has a large military presence, opportunities exist to develop research and service partnerships in the community. Located near the beautiful Gulf Coast beaches in Pensacola, we enjoy a temperate climate, low cost of living, and a relaxed pace of life.

Application Deadline: Review of applicants will begin December 11, and continue until the position is filled. This position is 1.0 FTE. Salary is commensurate with education/experience.

Application Procedure: Applicants must apply online at (https://jobs.uwf.edu). Applicants should be prepared to attach Curriculum Vitae, letter of application/interest, teaching philosophy, and the names and email addresses for three recommendation letter providers that Human Resources will invite to provide electronic letters of recommendation. Send any questions to Selection Committee Chair, Jane Halonen, Ph.D., at JHalonen@uwf.edu.
