    Position Title

     

    Adjunct Faculty (Organizational management)

     

    Job Description

     

    NYU's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service prepares public service leaders to translate ideas into actions that have an effective and lasting impact on the public good. Our faculty's research changes the way people frame, understand, and act on important public issues. We provide our students with critical skills, access to all that New York City has to offer, and a deep understanding of context surrounding public service challenges-which they use to improve cities and communities across the globe.

     

    NYU Wagner is seeking applicants to teach our graduate level course called Managing Public Service Organizations (MPSO).  We are looking for 1) applicants with scholarly expertise in organizational behavior, management, organizational psychology, or organizational theory or 2) candidates who have significant professional experience in managing organizations.  A sample syllabus can be found here.

     

    Duties include:

    o   Implement existing syllabus and work with other faculty to update syllabus as necessary

    o   Use the University's course management system to post syllabus, readings, assignments, and communicate with students

    o   Deliver course content using a variety of teaching styles  

    o   Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations; provide feedback in a timely manner on student progress

    o   Be available for student consultation through office hours or scheduled appointments or by phone or email

    o   Be available for consultation with student teams as they carry out team assignments

    o   Encourage students to submit course evaluations; review course evaluations when available and use feedback to improve course delivery

    o   Attend one orientation session to become familiar with NYU Wagner's mission and teaching philosophy, policies and procedures, and the course management system

    o   Meet with the Specialization Director and/or Course Director as needed to discuss all aspects of the course including student progress and curriculum development (may be required to provide input into program development)

    o   Meet with other faculty teaching the same course as needed

    Qualifications & Requirements

    ·        Graduate degree preferred (PhD, DBA or MA, MBA, MPA)

    ·        For practitioners, a minimum of 5-8 years of management experience

    ·        Previous teaching experience preferred.
