New Seekers, New Targets, New Dynamics: Emerging Developments in the Study of Feedback Seeking Feedback Seeking

Chair: Elad Netanel Sherf, New York U.

Discussant: Don Vandewalle, Southern Methodist U.

    Abstract:

Reviewing and distilling the vastly growing literature on feedback seeking in organizations, Ashofrd, De Stobbeleir, and Nujella (2016) recently identified a number of crucial gaps and made several calls for research to enhance our understanding of this fundamental phenomenon. Organizing these calls into three distinct, albeit related, themes (new seekers, new targets, new dynamics), this symposium combines five research projects that attempt to explore unsolved theoretical quandaries in this literature and expand the application of feedback seeking research into new and exciting realms. Using a variety of theoretical perspectives and research methods (i.e., correlational, experimental, qualitative) these projects represent the most current and cutting edge research on feedback seeking. By combining these projects into one symposium we hope to highlight future directions scholars can take to continue expanding our understanding of the antecedents, consequences, and explanatory mechanism of feedback seeking.
