    Human Resources Faculty Position

    Department of Management, College of Business

    Florida State University

     

    The Department of Management at Florida State University is seeking to fill a faculty position in Human Resources (HR) at the Assistant Professor level pending budget approval for the Fall of 2018. An earned doctorate is required, or candidates must demonstrate a strong likelihood of obtaining a doctorate by the Summer of 2018. Candidates must possess strong research skills, and the interest and abilities to conduct and publish research in top-quality journals. Also, the new hire will teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes in HR, including a HR analytics class for a new master's in analytics program. Applicants at the senior Assistant level must provide a record of research accomplishment and teaching effectiveness.

     

    The Department of Management has 14 full-time tenure-track faculty members that fall into the two general categories of Human Resources Management/Organizational Behavior and Strategic Management. The OBHR faculty include Shanna Daniels, Ceasar Douglas, Gerald Ferris, Jack Fiorito, Wayne Hochwarter, Pamela Perrewé, Lee Stepina,

    Chad Van Iddekinge, and Gang Wang. The strategy faculty include Michael Holmes, David King, Bruce Lamont, David Maslach, and Horatio Rousseau.

     

    Florida State University is a comprehensive, graduate research university of approximately 40,000 students located in Tallahassee, Florida. The College of Business enrolls approximately 5,600 undergraduate students, over 400 master's students, and about 50 PhD students. U.S. News and World Report consistently ranks the undergraduate program among the top 40 public institutions. The College of Business online graduate programs ranked #4 among public and private universities on U.S. News and World Report's 2016 list. The Management Department has doctoral programs in both OBHR and strategy with strong records of placing students at Research 1 universities.

     

    Tallahassee is a diverse, mid-sized city of approximately 375,000 people, located 20 miles from the Gulf of Mexico and near some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The city is known for its outdoor activities, park system, and performing arts. In addition, Tallahassee is within a few hours of several major metropolitan areas (e.g., Jacksonville, Tampa), as well as historic and resort destinations (e.g., St. Augustine, Disney World).
