Restorative Followership
Program Session #1759
**Sincere apologies for cross-postings**
We formally invite you to participate in our Symposium focusing on Restorative Followership. Leadership scholars contend that a complete understanding of leadership processes involves investigation of the complementary processes of followership. This view recognizes that followers can contribute to the strategic objectives of organizations in much the same way that executives do. Consistent with that view some researchers have begun to conceptualize strategic followership as a complement to strategic leadership. In this symposium, we build on that conceptualization by presenting conceptual and empirical studies that examine one major perspective of strategic followership – restorative followership. This symposium will report on studies that examine the strategic behaviors of restorative followers. Following the presentations, Kevin Lowe, a major contributor in followership research and discussant of this symposium, will provide both theoretical and practical suggestions on advancing restorative followership. We will then have an interactive group discussion on how to advance restorative followership.
We are very pleased to announce the participation of the following scholars:
· David B. Zoogah, Xavier University (Organizer and Presenter)
· Erica L. Anthony, Morgan State University (Organizer)
