    Dear all,

The following PDW may be of interest to anyone who uses or reviews interaction effects as part of their work. This is the third time this PDW has been run at the Academy of Management meetings. Please feel free to distribute to any colleagues or students who you think might benefit, and note the opportunity to send questions in advance!

Everything You Wanted to Know about Moderated Regression (but were afraid to ask)
    Friday August 4, 8.00-9.30am - Hilton Atlanta, Room 211

Workshop instructors: Jeremy Dawson (University of Sheffield) and Andreas Richter (University of Cambridge)

The testing of interaction effects via moderated regression is commonplace in management research, but many misunderstandings and gaps in knowledge persist. This workshop is aimed at researchers, reviewers, and PhD students alike, with a basic understanding of moderation, but who would like to advance their knowledge beyond this point.

    It will cover:
    • A refresher on the basic principles of testing two-way and three-way interactions
    • Methods of interpretation and post-hoc probing of interactions, including limitations of simple slope tests to overcome these
    • Testing, plotting and probing of some more complex types of interactions, in particular those involving curvilinear effects, and those where the dependent variable is not Normally distributed
    • An overview of some more complex issues such as multilevel designs
In addition, part of the session will be devoted to topics raised by participants. Anyone who would like a question about moderation answered in the PDW can email this question to j.f.dawson@sheffield.ac.uk by Monday 31 July, and it will be covered as part of the workshop. There will also be some time devoted to questions raised by participants in the PDW itself.

There is no need to pre-register for the PDW. Participants will be provided with resources (including SPSS syntax and plotting templates) to help them replicate topics covered in the workshop.

    Best wishes,
    Jeremy
