CALLING ALL ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR PhD STUDENTS:

Earning your PhD is quite the journey and we all experience times when we don't know which way to turn or how to navigate the waters ahead. What if you could easily get advice, knowledge, and tips from other PhD students who are in the same boat as you? Wouldn't that be great? We think so, too!

We need your thoughts and input as we build a website focused on aggregating dispersed knowledge (such as which conferences are available and how they're valuable) and cultivating cross-program connections, mentorship, and development.

If you have thoughts in this area or how such a tool could best serve OB PhD students, we want to hear them! Please RSVP and attend our PDW below – we want this platform to be by students, for students.

    RSVP to: karren@wharton.upenn.edu

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions and we hope to see you there!

Mentorship is critical to the development of Ph.D. students as they journey through their academic programs. Further, some of the most effective and rewarding mentorship can come from peers at the varying levels of Ph.D. programs. Yet, because of the structure and nature of Ph.D. programs and academic departments (small cohorts, political navigation), creating the conditions for optimal peer mentorship is often difficult. We aim to change that. The purpose of this Professional Development Workshop is twofold. First, we will solicit feedback from our peers in OB Ph.D. programs regarding the development of an online, shared resource for OB Ph.D. students, including a forum for peer-to-peer support and intra-university connection. The resource will support the academic, professional, and personal development of students in OB. Second, we will provide an in-person venue for personal reflection and goal setting for each individual in the workshop, with feedback from peers at other institutions who will be engaging in the same exercise. In addition to peer mentorship, participants will have the ability to reflect on goals and accomplishments and to set practical and tangible goals for the future, both of which are critical for the personal and professional development of Ph.D. students.

Registration is not required for this workshop, but we do request that interested participants emailkarren@wharton.penn.edu with their information (name, school, program, year) prior to attending the session.
