  • 1.  resources for cross-cultural effectiveness?

    Posted 11-13-2016 23:27

    Dear colleagues,

    (Sorry for multiple posts)

I am looking for cases, modules, materials, role plays, videos, experiential exercises for MBA and exec MBA level on "Working in different cultural environments" "Working effectively across cultures" "Culture and work in Asia" "Intra-cultural differences" (or similar themes).

These individuals already know about or have been exposed to cultural frameworks and cultural intelligence (Hofstede, Schwartz, Ang/Van Dyne) so something that goes beyond (or builds on) this and can be used for skill building and application would be most suited to this population.

The "Four Seasons Goes to Paris" and "Nissan's U Turn" are a couple of my favorite cases on managing across cultures, but I am cleaning out my portfolio and getting ready to try new stuff.

I would greatly appreciate your suggestions and inputs. (And is there an online compendium of such resources that perhaps I missed?)

    Best regards,

    Aarti

    Dear Aarti,

I have used with satisfaction the following CCM cases in my masters classes:

Waking the Bear: 'Danonizing' the Bolshevik biscuit factory (A)

    Roaring Dragon Hotel

    Essilor Korea (A)

LEADING ACROSS CULTURES AT MICHELIN (A)

Bob Chen & David Shorter (role-play)

Few others I used once or twice but may be of interest:

    Wal-Mart's Japan Strategy

MEDICAL EQUIPMENT INC IN SAUDI ARABIA

    Warm regards,

    Jacob

    Aarti,
Malaysia is the most culturally diverse country in Asia after India. You may want to read our paper:

I look forward to sharing what you will collect.

    Hi,

The Cross-Cultural Adaptability Inventory is an instrument that evaluates how ready an individual is for working effectively cross-culturally.

    Good luck!
