I'm interested in organizing a SIOP symposium on the topic of mixed-methods studies of meaning and meaningfulness at work.
The conference theme is "exploring new frontiers" and, based on my read, the use of mixed methodology to study meaning and meaningfulness at work is limited. So I think this would be a good session.
Our lab is working on a series of studies investigating how employees construct meaning and experience meaningfulness using a combination of qualitative data collection (e.g., open-ended survey, interview) and analysis (e.g., thematic analysis, content coding) as well as quantitative data collection (e.g., closed-ended, survey) and analysis (e.g., segmentation, factor analytic, regression) methods.
Looking for contributions that include some of the following aspects
Method
*Synchronous Design: Single data collection involving both quant and qualitative methods
*Asynchronous Design: Multiple data collection involving qualitative study followed by quantitative study
*Asynchronous Design: Multiple data collection involving quantitative study followed by qualitative study
Content Examples
*Meaning (e.g., Sensemaking)
*Meaningfulness
*Purpose
*Classical or Neoclassical Calling
