    Call for Papers
The Leadership Quarterly Yearly Review (LQYR) for 2018

The Leadership Quarterly is seeking proposals and manuscripts for the 2018 LQYR. Eligible topics include anything that would be considered relevant to leadership studies broadly defined to include theory, research, and practice in the field of leadership. Published manuscripts could include comprehensive literature reviews, theoretical integrations, new methodological developments, meta-analyses, or some combination of these. The review could be set in any scientific discipline that studies leadership systematically, from traditional organizational behavior, management or industrial-organizational psychology points of views to other perspectives including but not limited to evolutionary biology, anthropology, economics, or sociology. Of particular interest are contributions that adopt provocative-but theoretically or empirically grounded-viewpoints that go beyond reviewing the relevant literature to proposing where the future of leadership studies should, and should not, continue. For example, are there measures (e.g., Myers-Briggs Type Indicator), theories (e.g., Situational Leadership Theory), or practices (e.g., 9 Box Grid in succession management) that no longer contribute meaningfully to the field of leadership broadly construed? Well-reasoned and soundly argued papers that identify measures, theories, or practices that should be discontinued in the field, that would serve to stimulate debate, and potentially change the field constructively will be given special consideration in the review process.

Potential authors are encouraged to submit a 10-page (maximum), double-spaced proposal outlining the proposal topic and approach, elaborating why coverage of a chosen topic(s) is necessary, and concisely summarizing the potential contribution of the work in terms of how the manuscript will serve to (reshape) leadership theory, research, and/or practice. Paper and proposal submission are subject to competitive peer-review with an accept/reject option.

The timetable for this issue is as follows:

    1. Proposals submitted the EES system at http://ees.elsevier.com/leaqua/ by 20 January 2017
    2. Feedback to authors and paper commissioning by 17 February 2017
    3. Invited paper first drafts submitted through the EES system by 23 June 2017
    4. Reviews and decisions sent to authors by 25 August 2017
    5. Receipt of final manuscripts through the EES system by 27 October 2017
    6. Submission of LQYR manuscripts to publisher by 3 November 2017
    7. Publication of LQYR manuscripts by February 2018

Questions regarding the appropriateness of a manuscript topic or idea are welcome. Please contact David Day at dvday.kli@gmail.com.
