Hi David:
A great case on motivation is Ann Peng's Xiamen Airlines (Ivey case number 9B15C001). I used it last fall and it was fantastic. The TN is terrific and full of ideas for discussions on motivation.
We paired it with a reading from Chapter 12 by Pritchard and Payne (2003) "Performance management practices and motivation" in The new workplace: A guide to the human impact of modern working practices. The reading worked very well, it is based on theory and linked to contemporary HRM practice.
Best of luck with it,
Alison

Subject: [OB-LIST] Request advice on motivation readings
Colleagues,
I need to update/revise my coverage of motivation in my MBA OB course. I would be very grateful for recommendations regarding the following:
First, I'd like a couple good review articles that will help me get on top of current thinking regarding motivation, especially as relevant to the workplace.
Second, I'd like some readings and perhaps a short case that I could assign to my MBA students. These part-time students have an average of about 6 years of work experience and many (though not all) have some managerial experience.
I will compile and share the responses with the listserv.
Many thanks.
David
