    Dear All

We are   planning to conduct a research on:

EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON HOW CUSTOMER VALUE BRANDED AND COUNTERFEIT PRODUCTS

Counterfeit products market value stands at $653.77 billion. In a year India loses $11.9 billion due to counterfeit product sales. The aim of the experimental study is to explore how consumer values the counterfeit products over branded and unbranded product.

Procedure: Student volunteers from Sona College of Technology will be the subjects for the study. The participants will be put into three experimental groups. All the participants will receive the branded juice or water to be tasted in all the conditions mentioned below.

Then they will be asked to report their preference towards the products in terms of taste, quality and propensity to buy.

Condition 1: Brand name of the product will be told to the participants. Eg) Bisleri

Condition 2: Counterfeit brand name related to the Condition 1 brand name will be told to the participants. Eg) Bisloori

    Condition 3: Blind tasting.

The subject will have to respond to the questionnaire after tasting the product. The data collected will be analysed to find the group differences using ANOVA. The result and finding will be discussed.

    EXPECTED RESULTS:

The branded product will be evaluated equally with the counterfeit product.

The rating for the blind tasting will be lower compared to the branded product and counterfeit product.

    HELP REQUIRED:

    1)  How to control the influence of extraneous variable in the study?

    2)  Constructs for the study have to be developed to capture how consumers value products. Few constructs like taste, intention to buy, quality, likeliness are considered as of now. The factors mentioned will be rated on a 10 point scale (where 1 – Very low and 10 – Very high). I will be happy to have any relevant scale available to measure.

    3) Can we have some links w.r.t relevant literature/ studies / published works

Need your suggestions/ critical views as well .

    Best Regards
