Position
The Department of Management in the Lundquist College of Business seeks to fill multiple tenure-track positions in Organizational Behavior effective September 2017. Positions are open rank. Appointment with tenure requires formal review. For truly outstanding candidates, there is the possibility of an endowed position.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: Assistant Professor level: Completed or nearly completed Ph.D. degree in organizational behavior and/or management or related field with demonstrated potential for research and teaching excellence. Senior Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level: Ph.D. degree in organizational behavior and/or management or related field; demonstrated superior teaching competence and a record of scholarly accomplishment consistent with rank that includes publication in leading academic management journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization Science, and Personnel Psychology.
Professional Competencies: Requires background in organizational behavior and/or management or related discipline. Commitment to diversity and have the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Commitment to research in organizational behavior and/or management that leads to publication in top journals.
Preferred: Candidates who conduct research in organizations, with a preference for those primarily conducting field research. Active faculty research streams include, among others, well-being, compassion, organizational change, affect, work-life interface, technology/innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. Candidates whose research programs link to these streams, or to the College's strategic initiatives (e.g., entrepreneurship, technology/innovation, sustainable business practices) would be viewed favorably but this linkage is not required. Experience teaching at both undergraduate and graduate level.
The successful applicant will possess the scholarly ability and drive to conduct and publish research in premier management journals and the ability to teach with rigor and effectiveness. Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate and graduate courses in introductory management plus electives consistent with the candidate's background and interests and department teaching needs.
About the Management Department
The Lundquist College's Department of Management is a collegial group whose members publish in and serve on the editorial review boards of the top management journals including Associate Editors of the Journal of Management, and Journal of Operations Management, and board membership on the Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes and Strategic Management Journal in addition to other niche journals. Current members are Ralph Heidl, Lauren Lanahan, Reut Livne-Tarandach, Andrew Nelson, Anne Parmigiani, Michael Russo, and David Wagner. In addition, Alan Meyer, James Terborg, and William Starbuck remain involved in departmental activities. Allied faculty in other disciplines both within and outside the business college also share interests with faculty in the Department of Management. The Department is housed in the environmentally certified Lillis Business Complex, a facility that offers the latest in instructional technology and research support. The Business Research Institute, housed in the Lillis Business Complex, is a multi-room facility that supports qualitative, experimental and survey research enabled by leading-edge technology.
About the Community
Eugene often appears on lists of the most liveable communities in the country. It enjoys the cultural amenities of a larger city, hosting concerts that span the musical spectrum, the world famous Bach Festival, and many other festivals and celebrations. Recreational possibilities abound, ranging from hiking or mountain biking picturesque trails to playing nationally ranked golf courses to running well-maintained paths. Eugene lies within 90 minutes of alpine and Nordic skiing and the scenic Oregon coast.
