    Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that the OB Division is sponsoring the Professional Development Workshop entitled, "Unconstrained by Fear: Reallocating our Resources for a More Meaningful Conference Experience".

Fear is triggered when we perceive a threat to our physical or psychological well-being, automatically evoking neurophysiological systems meant to defend and protect. Especially for doctoral students and junior faculty, attending the annual conference amid thousands of scholars, and even sitting among academic heroes and heroines, can trigger a perceived threat to their competence, their capabilities, and their worth. The fear response, while effective in the face of real physical danger, can potentially hinder meaningful connections. The purpose of this workshop is to help participants surface unconscious fears that could unknowingly keep them from participating fully in the Academy of Management annual conference. We will build new skills of reflection and reappraisal to help reallocate cognitive, emotional, and behavioral resources toward making the conference experience more meaningful.

Pre-registration is required for this workshop, and there is a limit to the number of attendees to ensure an atmosphere conducive for doing this work. The registration website is here.
