Apologies for cross-posting
Dear colleagues,
As you may know, the Journal of Applied Psychology seeks to publish psychological research that advances understanding of important and relevant work and organizational phenomena. As noted in a recent Editorial (Chen, 2015; p. 2), the Editorial Team and I are open to publishing research that advance knowledge in our field in various ways, including articles that contribute theoretically (e.g., generate new knowledge or otherwise meaningfully extend what we know about certain phenomena), practically (e.g., provide new guidance on an important applied problem or practice), empirically (e.g., extend external validity or boundaries of a certain theory or phenomena), and/or methodologically (e.g., identify new methods that directly advance the study of important substantive phenomena). We also welcome articles that adopt different scientific approaches, such as (a) empirical, theoretical and integrative conceptual review articles, (b) studies adopting quantitative or qualitative methods, and (c) studies that rely on field or lab samples using experimental designs, observational designs, and/or simulations. And yes, we also welcome useful replication studies.
To highlight the emphasis on publishing articles that contribute to our field in the diverse approaches noted above, we have revised the set of sample articles provided on our webpage (see http://www.apa.org/pubs/journals/apl/sample.aspx).
Thank you to the many of you who continue to submit – and publish – excellent work in the Journal, which helps sustain the Journal as a premier outlet in our field.
All the best,
Gilad
