    Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer in Management or Marketing

    The Department of Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship (MME) invites applications for the continuing/tenured position of Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer in Management or Marketing. MME is part of the College of Business and Law, and is one of the leading business departments within New Zealand. In the 2012 Performance-Based Research Funding rankings, the Department was ranked first in Marketing and Tourism, and second in Management (which includes the areas of Management, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, International Business, and Other Business).

     
    MME provides a vibrant and collegial environment, internal research funding and sabbatical leave, and was located to a newly refurbished building at the beginning of 2014.
     

    Applicants should have a strong record of publications in internationally recognised high-quality academic journals and proven experience in the supervision of thesis students (commensurate with the academic rank being applied for); proven experience in academic leadership; and have good teaching skills. Applicants should have experience in teaching courses in entrepreneurship and/or innovation, and an ability to teach into any of the following areas: research methods, strategy, or sustainability. Given the cross disciplinary nature of these areas, it is envisaged that applicants may potentially come from a background in either Management or Marketing. It is also envisaged that applicants would be prepared to contribute to the activities of the University of Canterbury's Centre for Entrepreneurship.

    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer(Pūkenga/Pūkenga Matua)in Entrepreneurship and Innovation

    The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Pūkenga/Pūkenga Matua) in Entrepreneurship and Innovation will join an energetic and collegial Department of Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship (one of the highest ranking departments based on 2012 PBRF Research Assessment) and will contribute to teaching to courses on innovation, entrepreneurship, small business & management and product innovation/design. The successful candidate is expected to have a record (or clear potential) of high research productivity in one or more areas in entrepreneurship or innovation. The School provides an excellent support for newly emerging scholars through internal funding of research projects, preparation of grant application and conference funding and strongly supports emerging scholars in their career growth. Ability to collaborate and create partnerships with industry and other non-academic stakeholders is necessary.
     
    The successful appointee will display the following attributes:

    ·         PhD in a subject relevant to Entrepreneurship and Innovation or in general management or engineering. Applicants close to finalizing their PhD will be also considered

    ·         Record of high research productivity, or clear potential thereof

    ·         Ability to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in entrepreneurship and/or innovation

    ·         Strong interpersonal communication and communication skills, people leadership and capability building skills.

    ·         Experience in connecting with industry and other stakeholders

    ·         Active commitment to continuing personal professional development including bicultural professional development and applying learnings in everyday practises. An active commitment to exploring the values, tikanga (processes), kawa (rules) of cultural practice and traditions as guided by Ngāi Tūahuriri (the mana whenua or local peoples) at UC is also expected.
