Sleep-related content in the classroom

Some of you may have noticed that the topic of sleep is starting to gain some traction in the OB research literature (thanks to some great researchers such as David Wagner, Michael Christian, David Welsh, Larissa Barber, Heather Mullins, Tori Crain, Cristiano Guarana, Brent Scott, and others). I think it is worth bringing the topic of sleep into OB classrooms as well. In hopes of aiding these efforts, I'd like to share a few resources:

In the last chapter in this new edited book about work and sleep, we discuss how sleep should be integrated into management education: http://www.amazon.com/Work-Sleep-Research-Insights-Workplace/dp/0190217669/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1458844348&sr=8-1&keywords=Work+and+Sleep%3A+Research+Insights+for+the+Workplace

In my recent TEDx talk, I discuss how sleep is relevant to work-related outcomes. It is intended for lay audiences, and might be a useful assignment for outside of class. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8rpaCSm708

These articles provide advice targeted toward managers and future managers about sleep related content. This might either be useful reading for outside of class or useful content for building your own lecture.

I have a slide deck that I use in my MBA OB course session on sleep. I'm willing to share it with anyone who will find use from it. Initially, I tried to attach it to this email, but apparently it is just over the size limit for the OB Listserv (so the email bounced). If you want a copy, please email me at chris24b@uw.edu and I will email it to you. Note: If you just reply to this email instead of sending a separate email request, you'll spam the whole listserv with your request. So please send me a separate email instead.

I realize that all of this may come off as self-promotion, but it's a topic I'm passionate about and I'm hoping we can integrate sleep into management education beyond what I do in my own classroom. I hope that by providing some resources that may help others, it will increase the odds that this happens. And of course if some of you are already using some material about sleep in your classrooms and are willing to share it with me, I would appreciate that as well.
