  • 1.  macro database question

    Posted 03-15-2016 10:26

    Hi all –

Pardon if this is a silly question but I do not typically conduct macro-level research.  I am wondering if there are any common organization-level databases containing the results of survey data related to job satisfaction.  At its barest form, I need something that has a list of organizations by name and mean job satisfaction/org commitment/similar attitudinal variables.  I am specifically looking for mean scores (not rankings, unless it's a huge list of ranks) and preferably but not necessarily US organizations.  Does this sort of thing exist anywhere?

    Thanks,

    -Richard

    Hi Rochard,

This isn't exactly what you want, but Paul Spector has mean job satisfaction scores separated by industry:

Thanks Mike!  That could actually work for what I'm trying to do.

I've had a couple of additional responses off-list with ideas and resources, but it seems that such data aren't commonly collected, and even when they are, those data are owned by private firms and/or consortia.  Seems like a public database (or more realistically, a researcher-accessible one, given the sensitivity) would enable a lot of interesting work.
