Dear Jennifer,
A lot of great suggestions have been done already. I have also worked with the Robbins et al. book before and it worked quite well. It is a comprehensive book that students can appreciate and understand well. Recently, I have been using two different books that I would also like to mention to you. For my European-oriented OB course, I use the book from Sinding et al. (ISBN-13 9780077154615). It has a lot of nice European examples and cases which helps to allow our mostly Dutch students to identify more with the materials. For my international business OB course I use Kreitner & Kinicki (ISBN-13 9780078029363). What I like about this book is that it covers all the main OB topics and at the same time incorporates some of the most recent research findings and perspectives. During the past two years, students have not mention anything to me about not liking these books or about the books being hard to read, which is another signal that it is well suited for an undergraduate course on OB.
Good luck!
All the best,
Jos

Dear Jennifer:
I am teaching Organizational Behavior again after a period of about 10 years--amazing that I haven't taught the course that I was hired to teach for such a long period of time! In any case, I just adopted Scandura's book. It's relatively inexpensive (which is important for my students), but is easy to use and there is a lot of support material. Si I support Dr. Graen's recommendation. If you're investigating, I strongly recommend that you look into that option. -- Gayle

Subject: micromanagement construct
Greetings:
I assign my management students an annotated bibliography of empirical research on the management topic of their choice. Several students are interested in the idea of micromanaging.
What are the research construct(s) that most closely describe micromanagement? Searching on the term micromanage in the psych and management databases seems to yield primarily popular business literature.
Delegation?
Supervisor control?
Autonomy?
Thanks,

Subject: Question about Mentoring Programs
Dear OB Colleagues,
We are considering to create a mentoring program to help our undergraduate students get more out of their studies and find better jobs after graduation. We intend to start two mentoring programs. In the first program, we would match first-year and second-year students with upper-year mentors. In the second program, we would match upper-year students with our alumni.
If you are aware of a similar mentoring program at your university, I would love to know how the program is designed. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.
Best,
Serena
