  • 1.  Narrowing the research-practice gap

    Dear OB colleagues,

It's been widely lamented that our research has little impact on management practice.

In an effort to disseminate the knowledge provided by our work, I've helped build a web application that makes empirical research findings more accessible and interactive to students, scientists, and the general public. Reflecting Shapiro et al.'s (2007: 263) mandate that narrowing the gap involves "all of us," Knowtro (short for knowledge transfer optimization) relies on a growing collective of scholars, practitioners, students, statisticians, and others to help the platform expand by adding new empirical relationships from a variety of research disciplines daily. It includes tools to find, load, track, and manage research findings, and to collaborate with others. It's free to use and available at www.knowtro.com.

    I presume you're aware of metaBUS?  http://www.metabus.org/

    metaBUS Goals

Our goals are to change the speed and collaboration of science in the field of Human Resource Management. We have generated a map of the HR field are linking that map to more than a million research findings. The data will be available to all researchers to generate instant meta-analyses with a myriad of analytic and moderator options. To readily translate research findings into practice, we are also developing a software interface specifically for HR practitioners.
