    FULL-TIME, ONE-YEAR, NON-TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

    The Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) invites applications for a full-time, one-year, non-tenure track, term faculty position in the Department of Management Studies at the Instructor/Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2016.  Approximately 2,100 undergraduate and 70 graduate students are currently enrolled in the school's programs. Both the undergraduate and graduate programs are AACSB-International accredited. The school is housed in a state-of-the-art building.  There are currently 48 full-time faculty members in five academic departments:  Accounting, Economics, Finance and Management Information Sciences, Management Studies, and Marketing. The School offers the Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Business Administration and MBA degrees.  Regional outreach is accomplished primarily through activities of the School's Center for Economic Development, the Center for Economic Education, and the Bureau of Business and Economics Research.  Additional information about the School and its programs can be found at LSBE's website at http://www.d.umn.edu/lsbe.

    DUTIES:  The individual hired for this position will have responsibilities in teaching and service.  The department's current teaching needs are in the area of Organizational Behavior. Currently, the teaching load is seven sections (21 credits) per academic year.  Research-active candidates with Ph.D. degrees who maintain their AQ status will be eligible for one course release (3 credits) per year. The individual hired for this position will be responsible for advising undergraduate students and is expected to engage in service activities with colleagues, the department, School, campus, community and professional organizations. 

     


    REQUIRED/ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    (1) Applicants must have a minimum of a Masters degree in Organizational Behavior, Organizational Management, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, or an equivalent program from an accredited institution with substantive coursework in Organizational Behavior, or be ABD (with a minimum of two years of residency as a full-time doctoral student) in Organizational Behavior or Management (with substantive coursework in Organizational Behavior) from an AACSB-International accredited institution.


    (2) If the applicant has a Masters degree and is not ABD or PhD in the Organizational Behavior discipline, the applicant must have experience that demonstrates active involvement in his/her profession, which is in the primary teaching area, since the time of the Masters degree completion.  Applicants must fall in one of the four faculty qualification categories (SA, PS, SP, or IP).  LSBE's requirements for these four categories are listed at: https://lsbe.d.umn.edu/docs/Faculty%20Qualifications%20Definitions.pdf


    (3) Applicants must have experience in either training/public speaking within an organized setting or teaching at least one university-level course as instructor or teaching assistant. 

     


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

    (1) PhD from an AACSB-International accredited institution in Organizational Behavior.  Those with a Management major or focus of study must have substantive coursework in Organizational Behavior.

    (2) College-level teaching experience in Organizational Behavior or Organizational Management courses.  Demonstrate ability to teach elective courses at the undergraduate level to a diverse group of students.

    (3) Evidence of the potential to conduct and disseminate knowledge in the area of Organizational Behavior.

    (4) Applicants must exhibit a willingness to fulfill service responsibilities to students, colleagues, the department, and School.
