Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Human Relations (organizational studies)
The Department of Human Relations, Sociology, Anthropology, and Nonprofit Studies at High Point University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in human relations at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in August 2016. A Ph.D. in organizational studies, organizational behavior, organizational psychology, management, or closely related field is required.
The Human Relations major is an established and thriving student-focused, theory to practice, experientially based academic program. Based upon an interdisciplinary approach, primary focus is optimizing the leadership, management, and development of individuals across diverse workplace contexts. Pedagogical strategy is collaborative both within and beyond the classroom setting. The program requires practicum and internship experiences within an innovative and developmental approach to student learning.
The successful candidate should have teaching experience at the undergraduate level with excellent teaching evaluations and an active research agenda with evidence of research productivity. Preference will be given to those candidates with a proven record of enthusiastic and innovative teaching of undergraduates.
The teaching load is three, four-credit hour courses in both the fall and spring semesters. Areas of specialization are open but preference may be given to individuals who have an interest in teaching courses in several of the following areas: organizational theory/studies, training and development, project management, and practicum/internship supervision. An opportunity also exists to teach a First Year Seminar and/or Global Studies course on topics related to the above areas. The ideal candidate would also have a strong desire to engage in collaborative research with undergraduates.
High Point University, repeatedly named the South’s number one “up and coming” school and number one in undergraduate teaching, is in the midst of an exciting academic and cultural transformation. Review of applications will begin December 1, 2015 and continue until the position is filled. Interested candidates should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy, and documentation of teaching effectiveness (teaching evaluations) to
humanrelations@highpoint.edu<mailto:
humanrelations@highpoint.edu>. Please submit all materials electronically. Candidates from historically underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
