  • 1.  Database of management scales

    Posted 08-14-2015 13:46

    Dear Colleagues,

Almost every day, someone will ask this listserv if someone has a measurement scale for a specific variable.  I thought there should be a better way to this.  So, I created an online database of management scales.  At the website, you can upload, search, and download PDFs of management scales.  You can also make comments about scales.

The address for the website is:   ManagementScales.com

If everyone in the management field would go to the website and add at least one scale, then the field will have a huge, free database of scales and measures for everyone to use in their research projects!

Take a look at ManagementScales.com today, and help us crowdsource a huge, free, searchable database of management scales for everyone to use!

    Apologies for cross-postings.

    Thank you,

    Jeff

    Hi all,

Indeed, questions about measurement scales are common across a lot of list serves and it is great that scholars are willing to share their resources with others. In the past, I have directed researchers to the Inter-Nomological Network (INN) when such questions are posted. This NSF-funded initiative was started at the University of Colorado and, although not exhaustive, is a great search engine when looking for scales and/or sample items.

The INN is extremely user-friendly. Researchers can easily search for constructs/sample items by typing a keyword into the "Search Variables" box. The output provides the source/citation for the scale, a brief definition, and all of the associated items. The full list of scales that has been curated by INN to date can be found here. A list of journals from which these scales have been extracted is provided here. Both lists are updated quarterly and individuals can even create their own user accounts to better filter their searches.

I hope others find this helpful,

    Thanks,
    Jamie
