  • 1.  Recruitment symposium - SIOP 2016 - Need a couple more papers!

    Dear colleagues,
     
    I hope your summer is going well! Jerel Slaughter (University of Arizona) and I (Serge da Motta Veiga - American University) are wondering whether someone would have a (working) paper for a symposium on recruitment at the next SIOP (April 2016 in Anaheim, CA), and would be interested in participating. We are looking for two or three additional papers, and the submission deadline is on September 9, 2015. Here is more information about the current papers:

    • Jerel's paper (co-authored with Evan Sinar) examines organization-level antecedents of appearance on external rankings such as Most Admired Companies, Most Innovative Companies, Best Places to Work, etc. They have self-report data from HR executives and business leaders on high performance talent-management practices, leadership development, leadership quality, and a lot of other variables for about 1500 global organizations.  
    • My paper (co-authored with Brent Clark and Tim Moake) looks at the role of social networking HR presence and activity (i.e., Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.) on a company's reputation as a good employer (over time). We have done some preliminary data collection with some preliminary results, and are in the process of collecting (a lot) more data.

Since the submission deadline is less than a month away, please reply as soon as possible, since we are looking for 1000-word summaries of each paper sent to us by end of August/early September (at the latest).

  • 2.  HRIC 2016: Call for papers, symposia and PDWs, Deadline August 30!

    We hope you all had a great AoM, and looking forward to attending the Second HR Division International Conference (HRIC), to be held in Sydney, on February 20-22, 2016, co-sponsored by the HR Division of the Academy of Management (AOM), the Business School and AGSM at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Centre for Human Resource Management at the University of South Australia, and Monash University. The conference theme is Highlighting Context and Concepts in Human Resource Management (HRM).

     

    Building on the success of the first HRIC in Beijing, China (June 2014), this second HRIC focuses on current directions in contexts and concepts in HRM and features three eminent keynote speakers: Prof. David Guest (Kings' College, London, UK), Prof. Fang Lee Cooke (Monash University) and Prof. Cheri Ostroff (Centre for Human Resource Management, University of South Australia).
