One important opportunity for higher education is bringing diversity to the classroom. Most majority institutions of higher education have stated goals of diversity but few have actual effective implementation of a diverse faculty population. Those who are successful in recruiting minority faculty members soon find that they do not have policies and procedures in place to retain them. This PDW will develop techniques and best practices for recruiting and retaining minority faculty members that can be implemented at their own colleges/universities. Participants will be involved in a “speed dating” type process that will allow them to rotate through various groups for brainstorming and developing ideas that address the myths/roadblocks and then provides solutions for both recruiting and retaining minority faculty.
