    Professors,

I can't thank each of you enough for signing on to the letter Congress in support of a national paid family and medical leave program that professor Stew Friedman and others have helped circulate over the last two weeks. As of last night, more than 50 faculty members from 33 schools have added their names to the letter. (Props to the Cal Bears faculty, who have signed on en masse.) This list is already strong. With your help, I hope this list can grow even longer and more diverse in terms of schools and geography.

Would you please take a moment to consider whether colleagues at your institution or another institution would support this important initiative? If so, please reach out to ask them whether they will join you in signing the letter. The most recent version of the letter is attached, with signatures beginning on page three. In order to sign on, business or management school faculty members need only to contact me, Vicki Shabo (vshabo@nationalpartnership.org), with their name, title, affiliation(s), university/college, city and state as they would like this information to appear on the letter.

Our plan is to send the letter to every congressional office in advance of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)'s 22ndimplementation anniversary in early August. It will complement the outpouring of support from members of the public, business supporters and advocacy organizations in calling on Congress to support national paid leave. Already in the last month or so, five additional Senators and eight House members have added their names as cosponsors of the Family and Medical Insurance Leave Act (FAMILY Act), the federal paid leave bill, such that the bill now has record-high levels of support. This letter should generate additional cosponsors.

Thank you again for your support and for any additional outreach you are able to do. Please don't hesitate to reach out if I can be of assistance in your outreach or answer any questions.

    Best,

    Vicki Shabo
