| Developing High Quality Leadership Research Proposals through Mentoring |
This Academy of Management PDW provides students and junior faculty the opportunity to discuss their leadership research in an informal, collegial, roundtable setting with prominent leadership scholars. Based on their proposed research theory and methods, the junior scholars will be matched with a more senior scholar with similar research interests (not from their home university). At the workshop, the senior scholars will discuss research proposals submitted by the junior scholars, providing insights and suggestions for future research directions.
In addition to individual research projects, we welcome members of project teams. We also encourage scholars who are looking for collaboration with scholars in the leadership network. The senior leadership scholars (members of The Leadership Quarterly Editorial Board) who will be mentoring the junior scholars are: Gary Yukl, U. at Albany - State U. of New York; Kevin B Lowe, U. of Auckland; Ronit Kark, Bar Ilan U.; Mary F. Sully de Luque, Thunderbird; Ronald E. Riggio, Claremont McKenna College; Michael Mumford, U. of Oklahoma; Terri A. Scandura, U. of Miami; Claudia C. Cogliser, Texas Tech U.; Ken Parry, Deakin U.; Ronald H. Humphrey, Virginia Commonwealth U.
The focus of the PDW will be on developing theoretical foundations and designing high quality empirical studies. We promote use of various methods that would benefit from collaborations with other scholars; e.g., multiple comparative case studies, incident diaries, field experiments. This is a great opportunity for the junior scholars to develop their ideas, and to establish new collaborative relationships. This PDW is one of the few sessions at the conference which will give people a venue to get direct feedback on their work in progress. It is not suited for participants with completed research projects.
To participate in this workshop:
- Participants must submit a research proposal to Dr. Marie Dasborough by June 8, 2015 (m.dasborough@miami.edu) before registering for this PDW online. In the email submission, participants should indicate if they are a doctoral student or faculty member. They should also indicate their top 3 preferences for who they would like to work with from the list of senior leader scholars.
- Once the research proposal has been received, participants will then receive an approval code so they can register online.
