2015 AOM HR DIVISION DOCTORAL STUDENT CONSORTIUM
Chair: Dr. Jaap Paauwe
We are currently taking applications for the 2015 Academy of Management's HR Division Doctoral Consortium to be held at the Academy of Management annual meetings in Vancouver, B.C. on August 7th and 8th.
Highlights of this year's Consortium include:
· A free dinner and networking event on Friday, August 7th
· A keynote address by Dr. Patrick Wright of the Moore College of Business at the University of South Carolina
· A research feedback session with leading scholars in the field of HR
· A variety of panels and discussions about surviving the dissertation process, getting published, effective teaching, managing the job search, and international job opportunities
· A panel meeting with the major journal editors
· An informal after-session social on August 8th (self-pay)
The HR Doctoral Consortium is open to doctoral students in the dissertation stage. The ideal candidates are those who have finished coursework and are currently working on but have not yet defended their dissertations. There is no charge for the Consortium, but pre-registration is required. Accepted candidates will be given a code necessary for the pre-registration.
Application processes:
Email the following materials to Prof. Tim Gardner (2015hrdc@gmail.com) by May 15th, 2015.
a. A nomination form endorsed and signed by the candidate's doctoral program advisor which should include:
1) the nominee's name, address, email address, and phone number;
2) school/department and university;
3) year in program;
4) a general appraisal of the nominee; and
5) an assessment of the nominee's progress toward his/her dissertation, expected defense date, and dissertation subject.
* You may use the attached nomination form.
b. A current student CV (up to two pages) including at least contact information, education, research/teaching interests, publications, and conference presentations for distribution to all participants.
Please note:
The Consortium is intended for students who have made significant progress toward completing their doctoral program but have not yet defended their dissertation. Because space is limited, only one student per program is typically allowed to participate, but one additional qualified student from a given program may be accepted upon the request of a candidate's doctoral program advisor. On-line registration through the Academy of Management website is only allowed for those students whose applications have been accepted and given a registration code. Thus, drop-in attendance at the Consortium is not allowed. We hope you join us for this educational and fun experience for new HR scholars!
