    Dear colleagues,

I am preparing a course on HRM metrics for our Master in HRM. I wonder if, in case you are offering such a course in other Universities, you have any activities or exercises that you would recommend to incorporate in such a course. The course will be offered both at the part- time and full-time group of students, so an application of the taught material on the current employer would only be applicable to the part-timers.
I will collect all replies received and share them with the list.
    Thanking you in advance,
    Best regards,
    Eleanna

    Dear Eleanna,

What a great program! I'd definitely include:

    1. "The HR Scorecard: Linking People, Strategy, and Performance" by Brian E. Becker, Mark A. Huselid, Dave Ulrich.

Plus you might want to check out lots of research-based resources and tools by:

    2. the ATD in the US (the world's largest professional association dedicated to those who develop talent in organizations): www.td.org
    3. the CIPD in the UK (the largest one in Europe): www.cipd.co.uk

    Have an energizing weekend.

    Best wishes,

    Bart

    Hi Eleanna,

I have had good experience at the end HRM course for MSc students with the following simulation.

Basically it is about student getting into the role of HRM managers investing budget into various practices and projects over time as well as reacting to certain events that occur.

    Hi Eleanna,

Harvard's Pocket Mentor series has a great book called "Measuring
    Performance". It is very accessible.

    Eleanna,

we are also offering a course on evidence-based HRM at University of Munich (http://www.pw.bwl.uni-muenchen.de/lehre/ss15/projectseminar/index.html). I do recommend Cascio and Boudreau's book "investing in people" (http://ceo.usc.edu/book/investing_in_people_financial.html). You'll find lots of applications and short exercises in it. Additionally, the authors provide a website with further exercises allowing for company-specific information and structures. So, the book will possibly also suit for your purposes.
