  • 1.  Question about identifying family-owned businesses

    Dear colleagues,

    I am wondering if anyone could help point me to a centralized database that would assist in identifying organizations as being family-owned or not. We are currently defining family-run as 1) having a current family ownership greater than 15%, 2) having a family member in a controlling board position, or 3) having a family member as the founder of an organization. 

    We are currently working from a list of organization names and are relying on public information sources (such as company websites) and are not aware of any other resources. Any guidance toward such a source would be much appreciated!
