Please find below a call for applications for the EAWOP Summer School taking place in Birmingham, UK, 12-16 September 2016.
EAWOP early career summer schools are designed to foster pan-European research collaborations and to support the development of promising researchers in the field of work and organisational psychology.
The summer school presents the unique opportunity for early career researchers to meet with fellow researchers and prominent professors to discuss their own work as well as aspects of being a researcher.
Goals
The 5th EAWOP Early Career Summer School will take place from the 12th to 16th September 2016 in Birmingham, UK, under the main theme of launching a successful career in the field of work and organisational psychology as an academic and professional. The main goal of this EAWOP summer school is to provide delegates with an insight into the multiple components which make up a successful career paying particular attention to research and publications, career planning and management, successful grant funding applications and community engagement.
Who can apply?
The 5th EAWOP Early Career Summer School is open to PhD students (in their final year) and postdoctoral researchers (in the first five years after their PhD) who are members of EAWOP (or other associated bodies such as ICAPP, SIOP). We intend to welcome 35 early career researchers with a diversity of interests in work and organisational psychology and with a desire to pursue a career within this field.
Fee
The summer school participation fee is 395 Euros for EAWOP members. This fee covers summer school participation, accommodation in en-suite rooms, full-board and a group activity in Birmingham. The deadline to apply is January 30, 2016. Registration and payment must be paid by April 29, 2016. Non-EAWOP members can sign up for a discounted one year membership (May 2016 to May 2017, 50 Euros) through the EAWOP office.
Activities
- Round table sessions hosted by a senior scholar where researchers will present their research activities and discuss key issues;
- Keynote presentations given by two of the invited senior scholars;
- Three skills workshops which will address the following crucial topics: how to publish in A-level international journals, the mentoring process and how to obtain funding;
- Poster presentation;
- Two research methods clinics where recent topics in statistics will be introduced;
- There will also be the opportunity for a Q&A session with a senior scholar with expertise in research methods;
- Career management session – A senior scholar will give insights into how to navigate your academic career effectively;
- Meet the practitioners session;
- Opportunities for networking.
