Hello colleagues – I am looking for a research methods text to use in an MBA course.  MBA students don't typically take research methods.  This course is designed to introduce intellectually curious MBA students to academic research and research design in OB and related fields.  I would appreciate any ideas on possible texts that might work with MBAs.  You can email me at:

I will summarizes the responses and share them with everyone on the list.  Thanks so much for your help.

In my view, often research efforts especially from MBAs are "doomed" due to lacking a capacity to reflect on the basic assumptions often they (we) habitually repeat unreflectively. For which a good book may be

    Laura,

In my MBA program back in the 1970's at Oklahoma State, the first course we took was a business research class and we used the good old "Foundations of Behavioral Research" by Fred Kerlinger! It is a great book, with all the foundations required to understand the topic! I still keep my copy of the book!

    Thanks,

    Ivan

    Hi Laura:

A really good book that appeals to executives and is not bogged down in statistics and other high-tech methods (and believe me I love these things) is Rosenzweig's "Halo Effect".

It is really all about evidence-based thinking and a great read. To get an overview of the book see:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Halo_Effect_%28business_book%29

For more references on the topic--and to teach evidence-based thinking in intuitive ways you may wish to see a special issue on this in AMLE that was just published:
