    Dear colleagues,

You are cordially invited to our symposium session at AOM:

Studying Emergence in Teams Using Multiple Methods

    Monday, Aug 10 2015 1:15PM - 2:45PM at Hyatt Regency Vancouver in Plaza C

Panelists: Corinne Coen (Case Western Reserve U.), James K. Hazy (Adelphi U.), Stephen E. Humphrey (Pennsylvania State U.), Anita Williams Woolley (Carnegie Mellon U.), and Stephen J. Zaccaro (George Mason U.)

This symposium brings together researchers who study the emergence of team phenomena using different research methods. Panelists will first provide a conversation starter answering the following questions from their perspectives: 1. What is (not) emergence? 2. What do you think is the biggest challenge in studying emergence? 3. What do we need, as researchers and reviewers, to study more about emergence? 4. What are good methods to study emergence? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each method must be acknowledged in research? 5. Why is emergence research important? In other words, how does the study of emergence contribute to OB field and organizational/management theory? 6. What are potential topics and research questions relevant to emergence? What are exemplar emergent phenomena in teams? 7. How is study of emergence different from traditional study? Following the conversation starters, we will open up discussion to the audience.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the session. Looking forward to seeing you there!

    Cheers,

    Mai
