    Dear Colleagues,

We are in the process of creating lists that rank journals in terms of rigor and quality.  We are including both "discipline-based" (e.g., AMJ and JOM) and "learning and pedagogical" (e.g., AMLE and JME) journals. To that end, I am turning to my OBTS colleagues, hoping that you can share the journal-ranking lists your school uses and/or suggest any other credible sources.

    With many thanks,

    Janet

    Dear Janet

The Australian Business Dean's Council (ABDC) recently conducted a very comprehensive rating of journals in our field.  You can find the complete list at http://www.abdc.edu.au/pages/abdc-journal-quality-list-2013.html.

The list refers to Australian and New Zealand Standard Research Classification (ANZSRC) "FoR Codes" (Fields of Research).  The ABDC list is based on ANZSRC 4-digit FoR codes.  The relevant 4-digit FoR code for "Business and Management" is 1503.

Titles are categorised into four quality bands: A*, A, B, C.

Attached is a PDF of the full ABDC 1503 list.

    Best regards

    Neal Ashkanasy

    Dear Janet,
In addition to the Australian ABDC list, you might also look at the FT-45 list, the University of Texas-Dallas list and the UK Association of Business Schools list.
Anne-Wil Harzing from the University of Melbourne also produces a list which combines various rankings from around the globe, see: http://www.harzing.com/jql.htm
This is probably the most comprehensive list of different rankings from around the globe and useful to compare journals across rankings.
Please be careful when applying these list to tenure or promotion systems- the use of lists always has unintended consequences as many of us working in the management profession well understand.
    Best regards,
    Alex.

    Dear Janet,
I am sending you the lists which are accredited in South Africa and I hope this helps and it is what you are looking for.
It is the 2013 one, but I think not much changed for 2014.
    Kind regards, Claude

We have adopted use of the  SCOPUS/SJR “SCIMago Journal Rank Indicator.” This source provides journal quality information for approximately 20,000 journals including approximately 1,000 business and economics journals. One can look up a journal to get its “SJR score.”
The scores can be found at the SJR site at http://www.scimagojr.com/journalsearch.php.
