Hello. My colleague, Christa Wilkin, and I are exploring factors that
impact team functioning in the virtual environment. We wanted to
see if anyone could recommend a good simulation or activity that would
enable us to examine team processes and outcomes in virtual (and ideally
non-virtual) teams. The task should require a high degree of collaboration
among team members. We are planning to run a lab study this Spring.

    Thank you very much.

I use Glo-bus simulation. It is a strategic management simulation but is a great team exercise. It can be found at www.glo-bus.com

    Hi Cristina,

I have previously used the "Leadership and Team Simulation: Everest" for my research. You can find more information here: http://hbsp.harvard.edu/list/7000-demo-page-basic

In my study, participants worked in a face to face setting. However, the chat function of the simulation would give you the option to run a virtual session.

I use the Everest simulation in my chat room for my online MBA course.  It works very effectively and the teams are able to learn a lot about working both virtually but also just in teams.
