Is anyone planning to assign a virtual team project for their OB or OB-related course (e.g. team management)? I am looking for a class to partner with this fall so that I can assign a realistic virtual team project, in which a team in my class would work with a virtual team that they would not meet face to face. Using whatever tools they have, the project would be to either deliver some kind of video project or narrated power point presentation, with both teams somehow contributing to it. The learning objectives of the project are (1) to learn how to present an online-deliverable product while working with a virtual team and (2) to compare the differences in their experiences working with a face to face team versus working with a virtual team.
The class that I will be teaching this fall has 34 undergraduate students and we are at Bentley University, in Waltham, MA. It would be nice to partner with a class outside the U.S. but anywhere outside of Bentley University would be fine. The project/deliverable to be assigned is negotiable. It might also be interesting to partner with a graduate class.
I will be attending the AOM conference in Orlando and can meet up with anyone who is interested to talk more about it. Please e-mail me at
Leung_Opal@Bentley.edu if you have any questions or are considering this as a possibility for the fall (and/or spring) semester. Or, if you are not going to Orlando, we can set up a Skype audio/video chat, Facetime, or phone call.
