I won't be able to make it to the AOM Conference, but I was thinking about your PDW and wondering whether there was any room for an additional perspective to organizational behavior somewhat expressed in the New York Times' article "The Power of Negative Thinking"! (See attachment). I sometimes talk to my students about thinks like what Bill Gates used to tell his managers that "Microsoft was always a couple of years away from failure." In another life when I was a firefighter the "sense of fear" was many times a motivating factor to pay more attention to what you were doing, etc.

Just a thought!
