  • 1.  Measure on Organizational Awareness

    Hi,

    I am developing a measure on workplace posttraumatic growth. In the interviews I conducted with people who experienced workplace traumas, many expressed coming away with a greater sense of organizational awareness. For instance they mentioned having a greater understanding of the inner-workings of their organizations. 

    I would prefer to use an established scale on organizational awareness, rather than create my own items. Is anyone aware of a scale or any theoretical literature on organizational awareness? I know there is a competency of organizational awareness in the Emotional and Social Intelligence Inventory. But other than that, I have not been able to find any work on it.

    Dear Emily, awareness might come from an organization's/person's transactive memory.  Transactive memory means an awareness of the organizational rules and procedures and who knows them.  There is literature on transactive memories in organizations and what gives rise to them.
