Attention leadership scholars! You are invited to participate in the following AOM PDW:
A Mentoring Session to Promote High Quality Leadership Research
Session # 12786
Tentatively Scheduled: Saturday, August 10, 2013
3:00:00 PM - 5:00:00 PM
@ WDW Dolphin Resort, Oceanic 6
This Academy of Management PDW provides students and junior faculty the opportunity to discuss their leadership research in an informal, collegial, roundtable setting with prominent leadership scholars. Based on their proposed research theory and methods, the junior scholars will be matched with a more senior scholar with similar research interests (not from their home university). At the workshop, the senior scholar will discuss research proposals submitted by the junior scholars, providing insights and suggestions for future research directions.
In addition to individual research projects, we welcome members of project teams. We also encourage scholars who are looking for collaboration with scholars in the leadership network. The senior leadership scholars (all members of The Leadership Quarterly Editorial Board) who will be mentoring the junior scholars are: Leanne Atwater (Senior Editor), Kevin Lowe (Associate Editor), Chet Schriesheim (Associate Editor), Shelley Dionne (Associate Editor), John Antonakis (Associate Editor), Claudia Cogliser, Robert Lord, William Gardner, Gary Yukl, Ronit Kark, Terri Scandura, Fran Yammarino, William Gardner, Michael Mumford, Fred Walumbwa, and Robert Liden.
The focus of the PDW will be on developing theoretical foundations and designing high quality empirical studies. We promote use of various methods that would benefit from collaborations with other scholars; e.g., multiple comparative case studies, incident diaries, field experiments. This is a great opportunity for the junior scholars to develop their ideas, and to establish new collaborative relationships. This PDW is one of the few sessions at the conference which will give people a venue to get direct feedback on their work in progress. It is not suited for participants with completed research projects.
The most promising research proposal will receive an award, generously sponsored by the C.T. Bauer College of Business, Department of Management, University of Houston. The recipient of the Best Proposal Award ($100 check) will be determined by the PDW organizer Dr Marie Dasborough and the Leadership Quarterly Senior Editor, Professor Leanne Atwater.
To participate in this workshop:
- Participants must submit a research proposal to Dr. Marie Dasborough by June 1, 2013 (m.dasborough@miami.edu) before registering for this PDW online. In the email submission, participants should indicate if they are a doctoral student or faculty member. They should also indicate their top 3 preferences for who they would like to work with from the list of senior leader scholars.
