Hi all:
The New Community College at CUNY seeks a skilled and experienced educator in Information Technology to serve on the faculty and support the culture of teaching and learning across the institution. The successful candidate will have broad knowledge in, and the expertise necessary to teach students, the foundations of Information Technology and Systems including courses such as programming, networking, databases, and web-based systems. S/he will also have the ability to provide learning opportunities that cultivate logical and analytical thinking for students to apply across the disciplines and in various contexts. S/he will employ hands-on teaching methods to engage students with course content relevant to real businesses to enable them to gain exposure to and knowledge of the field and to enter the job market with the skills needed to meet the computer technology needs of various organizations.
The successful candidate will be a gifted instructor committed to preparing urban community college students - who typically enter unprepared to do college work - for academic success and completion. To do so, the candidate must possess a superior ability to make use of a range of effective curricular, pedagogical and support strategies and be flexible and open to sharing and learning from others. S/he also must be comfortable crossing disciplinary boundaries, as s/he will be expected to develop and teach interdisciplinary courses as well as courses in a major field. The candidate must share the College's vision to serve a linguistically and culturally diverse student body. This tenured or tenure-track appointment (with rank depending on experience and qualifications) will begin in fall 2013.
