    It is longer in length than similar workshops-four days-so that participants enjoy ample time for deliberation and exchange.

    It not only brings together young scholars, but also invited senior scholars, distinguished in the field of public administration and policy, who act as mentors, coaches, and discussants.

    The workshop format is highly intensive as young scholars have an initial presentation, followed by designated individual and group level discussions with senior scholars, and then a final presentation.

    Faculty are assigned to young scholars grouped by sub-fields and concentrations, and engage in group discussions and individual consultations related to their research projects.

    Faculty present their recent works in a relaxed atmosphere, allowing young participants to get fresh experiences on the process of conducting empirical research-from topic choice to reviewing the literature, from framing and analyzing to presenting.

    Senior faculty provide instructional sessions on topics such as "How to Get Published" and "Conducting Research for an International Audience," adapted for the young scholars.

     

    Theme

     

    We welcome research papers and projects on a broad range of public policy and administration issues including, but not limited to, the following:

     

    The response of public policy and administration to post-crisis governance.

    Empirical policy analysis in such specific fields as fiscal, environmental, health, labor, etc.

    Traditional public administration topics, including but not limited to performance management, leadership, human resources and budgeting.

    Aspects of strategic management and collaboration in public sectors.

    The challenge of working across levels of governments and sectors.

    The state of public sector ethics

     

    All research papers and projects must be empirically based. Applications beyond the above illustrative topics will certainly be considered.

    Eligibility

     

    We accept applications from doctoral candidates at the stage of dissertation writing or engaged in fieldwork, postdoctoral fellows and young professionals (assistant professors, lecturers or research fellows).

    Procedure and Timeline

     

    Applicants shall submit a summary of their research papers or projects containing no more than 250 words via e-mail to the YSW Planning Committee at youngscholars@aspanet.org

     

    Summary submission deadline: April 4, 2014

    Acceptance notification: Late April 2014

    Full paper submission: June 15, 2014

     

    Location and Fees

     

    The workshop will be held at Jilin University in Changchun, the capital city of Jilin Province in Northeast People's Republic of China.

     

    Accepted participants will receive a registration fee waiver. Lodging accommodations, local transportation, and daily meals for four days will be provided.

     

    Participants must cover their airfare travel expenses.

    *** INFORMS 2016 College of Organization Science Call for Submissions ***


    The College of Organization Science (COS) of INFORMS is accepting submissions for paper sessions to be held during the INFORMS 2016 Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee November 13-16, 2016. Paper Sessions are 90 minutes in length and may comprise of three or four presentations linked by a common theme or may include short presentations followed by a panel discussion. Presentations do not need to be accompanied by a formal paper.


    We welcome any submissions that are relevant to the field of Organizational Science, which is broadly defined in the Organization Science statement of purpose as, "research about organizations, including their processes, structures, technologies, identities, capabilities, forms, and performance".


    Please send your submissions to Mae McDonnell, the 2016 COS Program Chair, at marymcd@wharton.upenn.edu.  If you wish to submit a single paper: please send an abstract of 500 characters (approximately 50 words).  If you wish to submit an entire paper session (highly encouraged): please send the name of the session chair, the session title, as well as paper titles and abstracts. Session chairs are responsible for finding speakers, encouraging them to submit titles and abstracts, and chairing the session during the conference. Session chairs may present in their own session, but this is not required.


    The deadline for submitting invited abstracts or paper sessions to this year's conference to the Program Chair is May 9, 2016.
