Denise,
Sorry for the late reaction! I taught at a university in Miami years ago. There we adopted an introduction to business course at the freshman level. There were two major reasons for the course. One was to get students more "excited" about the business programs (this course was available to non-business majors too) and recruit more business students. The second purpose was to present a holistic view of business at the beginning of the program, then the students would take the different courses in the various areas of business, and then the capstone would give them again the holistic view of business again. I don't know if they still do this!
Thanks,
Ivan

Subject: [OB-LIST] Intro to Business?
I received a number of very helpful responses to my recent query about whether "Intro to Business" was a required component of your business program. I've compiled the responses in the attached document (and in a few cases edited for length or equivalency). It appears that a number of 4-year programs - some AACSB accredited and some not - do require such a course as an overview to the various business disciplines, and/or as a skills-based course.
Thanks so much to those of you who responded.
Denise
