Hello all....Our program is currently seeking to revise the way we measure/assess our undergraduate management students' competency in "Interpersonal/Relationship Skills".  Within this competency, we have the following items:

    1.  Participates actively in team-projects & positively influences team outcomes
    2.  Builds effective relationships with peers, mentors, & business partners
    3.  Proactively manages interpersonal conflicts
    4.  Respects and leverages diversity in backgrounds & perspectives.

If your school has a similar competency for your undergraduate management students, how do you go about measuring/assessing it?  What methods do you use?  If you use a survey, what items do you include?  In the past, we have simply used a 360 assessment and had people rate the items above, but we are looking for other methods of assessing this competency.

Thanks for your help and have a great rest of the week,

    James

    Dear James,

I am using a text by Whetten and Cameron that contains a Personal Assessment of Management Skills (PAMS), which covers 10 essential management skills. We have a whole subject built around this.

    Dear James,

I am also using the Whetten and Cameron book that Roxanne uses and use the PAMS. This is a graduate course and I also ask the students to use their PAMS scores to develop a Skill acquisition plan for themselves, which I look at and offer feedback.
